50 quick and easy backlinks to boost your website

20 May 2022

Did you know that Google was originally called BackRub back in 1996? Whenever we need answers to our questions, you can guarantee the phrase ‘Google it’ will be announced as a solution. In 2022, the thought of telling someone to ‘back rub it’ doesn’t have the same ring to it. Google founders, Larry Page and Sergey Bring called their search engine BackRub for its analysis of the web’s ‘backlinks’.

What is a backlink?

Backlinks, sometimes referred to as inbound links, incoming links or one way links – are simply just links from one website to another website.

For example, here you can see the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce have a link from their website to the Code Galaxy website:

Google and other major search engines consider backlinks important, as it demonstrates the popularity and authority of a website. If a website has many links from other reputable websites, Google will be more confident in ranking that website higher. If a website has only a few backlinks, and they’re from low authority websites then it is seen as a negative; you will be ranked based on the quality of your backlinks.

Why are backlinks important?

When someone visits Google and types in a query, they have confidence that Google will deliver the best results. It is important for the content to be valuable, credible and useful, backlinks signal if you meet this criteria. Your ranking will be affected based on the volume, relevance and quality of your backlinks.

How to get backlinks?

As a new business or a small business – it can be difficult to get backlinks. One of the easiest and quickest ways to get backlinks and improve your website rating is with online directories. They can also be a great way to receive referral traffic too!

Some directories you will have to pay for, but there are many available for free. Just make sure your business information and contact details are consistent in every directory.
