Creating a news article/blog post is like creating a website. You need to factor the look, content structure and usability of the post that you have written. It is essential to create a structure that flows well for your readers and that is structured in a format that suites them and the major search engines like Google and Bing.

5) Article Length
One of the many search engine ranking factors Google uses is content length. SEO specialist plugin provider Yoast recommend that you should have a minimum of 300 words in your posts. If your competition has more relevant information on the same topic, it is likely that they will be getting a better rating then you.
6) Inbound Linking
If you have other posts or pages with relevant information on the post topic make sure you link to that information. It adds strength to your post by showing that you have more knowledge on the subject. Yes, Google does rank you on inbound links. One clever way to identify the relevant places to put inbound links, is to search your existing posts for the keywords you are using.
Times are changing, gone is the day that you could use Black hat SEO techniques to stuff you posts full of keywords to get to page one on Google. Black hat techniques such as keyword stuffing can and will land you in a bad place with Google (it actually could result in your site being removed from Google’s SERPs).
